A bug in Philips’ popular Philips machine tools product has caused users to see an error message in the Windows 7 operating system.
The error message states that “there is a problem with the Philips Tooling Service,” and it’s unclear if the problem is a software or hardware issue.
Users have reported that the tooling is displaying the wrong date and time for the date and hours it should work, and that they cannot open the tool with any tooling installed.
Phillips’ Product Support Center has a thread dedicated to this issue on its site, and a user has reported that it’s being addressed.
The user, who goes by the handle of JG, has logged into the service and found the error message appears in a window, and he’s seeing an error saying “We cannot resolve the issue,” but the message isn’t displaying in a popup window.
“If you want to check if it’s a software problem, you can find the error and the message in a pop-up window in the tool-box,” JG wrote on the thread.
“The tool is now showing ‘The tool cannot open.
It’s not an issue with the service.'”
A user also found that the message displayed in the pop-ups window is a duplicate, as it appears to be for all tooling.
Phillips has not yet responded to Ars’ request for comment.
