A man who allegedly poisoned his 7-week-old child with trishaoil was found guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Colorado.
Christopher K. Bales III, 26, was convicted on two counts of second-degree murder and one count of second degree child abuse in the June 25, 2018, death of his infant daughter.
Bales was convicted of the two counts because prosecutors said his daughter died from exposure to the chemical and not from an overdose.
He also was found not guilty of the child abuse count.
Balls said the verdict is a win for her family.
She told the judge that she’s still haunted by the moment when the poison gas was administered to the child.
She said she believes she could have avoided her daughter’s death had he not been in a coma for seven weeks, suffering from hypothermia.
She said she wishes he would have been told what to do.
